Mankading in cricket is considered to be against the spirit of the game. While most of the cricketers are against it, Murali Kartik seems to have no problem in using it during the matches.
This time he whipped the bails of Sandipan Das during the Ranji Trophy match for Railways against Bengal and interestingly last year had done the same during a County match against Somerset while playing for Surrey.
As expected this created a lot of cry and stir, like it had happened last year. The Bengal team made no effort to hide their disappointment, there were a few words exchanged between Kartik and opposition.
While there has been a huge hue and cry about the incident, it is a bit unfair to blame the bowler for Mankading. During the over before that Kartik had warned the batsman, but Sandipan continued to repeat the mistake when Kartik decided to take the bails off.
This is completely within the rules of the game and if this is considered as being against spirit of the game despite being in the rules, there are plenty of other issues that are employed by many teams and go unpunished.
