NEW DELHI, August 28: India's ace archer Deepika Kumari broke-down owing to arrogant behaviour by reporters from the electronic media during the felicitation function in New Delhi.

The India trio --- Deepika, Rimil Buruily and L. Bombayla Devi clinched gold at the Wroclaw World Cup in Poland.

Deepika, the star of the Indian women’s recurve archery team was in demand during the press conference at the home of V.K. Malhotra, president of the Archery Association of India (AAI).

The Hindu reported the incident went out of hand after TV journalists demanded one-on-one interviews with Deepika. The ace archer was clearly jetlagged after landing in Delhi on Tuesday morning and was en route the national camp at Aurangabad.

News channels hounded questions during the function and later demanded exclusive interviews.

Deepika also requested a cameraperson to stop following her and the team-mates. He also chased her while she was having breakfast with the team coach.

The World Cup champion obliged to give interviews but was running out of time to catch a flight in the afternoon. They requested the other TV journalists to conduct combined interviews instead.

Instead of acceding to the request, the cameraperson taunted Deepika, saying she should actually be grateful for such big coverage.

Things escalated when one reporter accused Deepika of being rude by refusing to talk individually to everyone.

Deepika soon broke-down, claiming she had not slept for more than 24 hours. She had a severe headache because she had not eaten since morning.
